To couple the cables, first the movement transmitting core members 12, 18 are connected, either by engaging a ball 68 moulded on the looped end 14 of core member 12 in a socket 70 of a terminal member 66 moulded on the looped end 20 of the core member 18 (Figs. 1, 2), or by engaged looped ends of the core members on posts 90, 92 of a connector 24 (Fig. 7). Then a sleeve 26, axially movably supported on the conduit 22 of the second cable is brought into positive engagement with a terminal member 50 (Figs. 1, 2) or 48<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 7) secured to the conduit 16 of the first cable. In Figs. 1, 2, the member 50 is axially adjustable relative to the conduit 16 by a turnbuckle sleeve 52. Tangs 64 on the member 50 snap into engagement with a cross-bore 62 of the sleeve 26. In the coupled position of sleeve 26, tangs 40 on the sleeve 26 engage a squared groove round a terminal member 36 secured to the conduit 22 to axially and non-rotatably locate the sleeve 26 relative to the conduit 22 (Fig. 5). In Fig. 7, the sleeve 26<SP>1</SP> is rotatable at all times relative to the conduit of the second cable, and screws on to the screw-threaded member 48<SP>1</SP>, the screw-thread providing for both coupling and axial adjustment. |
