PURPOSE: A shift register is provided to increase the capacitance by forming a capacitor with an active layer, a gate insulating layer, and a gate line layer. CONSTITUTION: A shift register includes an output circuit portion, an input circuit portion, and the first to the third capacitors(CB,CQB,CQ). The output circuit portion includes a pull-up transistor and a pull-down transistor. The pull-up transistor has a conductive path connected to an input terminal and an output terminal for receiving the first clock signal and a control electrode for controlling the conductive path. The pull-down transistor has a conductive path connected to the second input terminal and the output terminal and a control electrode for controlling the conductive path. The input circuit portion has the first control portion for controlling the control electrode of the pull-up transistor and the second control portion for controlling the control electrode of the pull-down transistor. The first capacitor is connected between the control electrode of the pull-up transistor and the output terminal. The second capacitor is connected between the control electrode of the pull-up transistor and a low voltage source. The third capacitor is connected between the control electrode of the pull-down transistor and the low voltage source. The first to the third capacitors are formed with an active layer formed on a substrate, a gate insulating layer for covering the active layer, and a gate line layer formed on the gate insulating layer, respectively.
