PURPOSE: Novel phenylalkyldiamine and amide derivatives are provided, which have high binding affinity with a sigma receiptor, and are thus useful for treatment of central nervous system diseases. CONSTITUTION: Novel phenylalkyldiamine and amide derivatives represented by the formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are provided, wherein m is 0 to 2, and n is 1 to 4; X and Y are selected from hydrogen, C1-C8 lower alkyl, halogen selected from F, Cl, Br and I, C1-C3 alkoxy, nitro, hydroxy or trifluoromethyl; R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, benzyl, substituted benzyl, phenyl alkyl, substituted phenyl alkyl, benzoyl, substituted benzoyl, formyl, acetyl, phenylacetyl, substituted phenylacetyl, methanesulfonyl, benzenesulfonyl or substituted benzenesulfonyl; Z is pyrrolidine, piperidine, hexamethyleneimine, morpholine, 4-benzylpiperidine, N-benzylpiperazine or 5 to 7 membered aromatic ring amine containing substituted benzoylpiperidine having a compound of formula (II) or (II') and derivatives thereof; and X' and Y' are selected from hydrogen, C1-C8 lower alkyl, halogen selected from F, Cl, Br and I, C1-C3 alkoxy, nitro, hydroxy or trifluoromethyl.
