PORTABLE COMPUTER AND CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A portable computer and a controlling method thereof are provided to improve the practical application by using a touch screen as a sub display device displaying user data on a system-off state. CONSTITUTION: A video chip(11) outputs a video signal. The touch screen(15) includes a sub LCD(13), and a sensor(12) outputting a contact position signal by detecting contact of an object while being installed to the sub LCD. A touch screen interface converts the contact position signal into an input signal and provides it to a microcomputer(14). A user memory(17) stores the user data. A controller(19) displays the user data on the sub LCD of the touch screen by reading the user data stored in the user memory when a power switch is turned off. A sub LCD power selector(23) turns on or off power of the sub LCD according to user's selection.
