PURPOSE: A camera for providing mixed image signals is provided to obtain color images in a dark background and clearly realize the outlines of a moving object. CONSTITUTION: A camera for providing mixed image signals includes optical units(LE,PR,OF,24) for providing electric image signals to a user by processing light from an object(OB), a color photoelectric conversion part(COS), a memory, a black/white photoelectric conversion part(BWS), a digital signal processor(21), a micro controller(22), and a user input part(23). The memory temporarily stores the digital color image signals output from the COS. The digital signal processor processes the digital color image signals input from the COS and digital black and white image signals input from the BWS to generate output image signals. If a mean level of the color image signals input from the COS is lower than a threshold value, areas in which outlines of the object change are set by black and white image signals while the other areas are set by color image signals. The COS convert light from an optical low pass filter to the digital color image signals. The BWS converts the light from a white glass(24) to the digital black and white image signals.
