PURPOSE: A parking mechanism of an automatic transmission is provided to simplify the structure, to reduce limits of layout in mounting the parking mechanism in a limited space of the transmission, and to increase the freedom of a design. CONSTITUTION: A parking mechanism of an automatic transmission is composed of a turning shaft(10) interlocking with a shift lever and rotating; a cam assembly body(22) combined to the turning shaft and integrally rotated; and a sprag(20) pressurized from the cam assembly body when the shift lever moves to a P range and engaged to a parking gear(18) in the transmission to constrain the rotation of the parking gear. The cam assembly body includes a body having a mounting hole combined with the turning shaft and a nose unit of which a side is protruded outward; a housing inserted into a space unit formed in the nose unit of the body and assembled to elastically move; and an idle roller assembled to the housing to idle.
