PURPOSE: An actuator and a hard disc drive having the same are provided to increase the coupling force between a coil and an inner mold and between the coil and an outer mold by a connection mold formed on a surface of a non-valid part of the coil, thereby increasing the resonance frequency of the actuator and improving the dynamic property of the actuator. CONSTITUTION: An actuator includes arms(146) rotatably mounted on a base plate of a hard disc drive via pivot holes(148) in the center. Each of the arms is mounted with a suspension(144) at a front end for supporting a slider(142) securing a magnetic head(141) to be elastically biased toward a disc surface. The arms are rotated by a voice coil motor(150), which has a coil(156) coupled with rear ends of the arms, and magnets(153,154) disposed on top and bottom surfaces of the coil with a predetermined distance from each other to face each other. The coil is coupled with the arms by plastic injection molding. An outer mold(149a) surrounds outer periphery of the coil, an inner mold(149b) connects the coil to the rear end of the arms, and a connection mold(149c) connects the inner and outer molds to each other. The inner, outer and connection molds are formed simultaneously by injection molding of plastic resin after disposing the coil.
