PURPOSE: An electron gun for a cathode ray tube is provided to improve a resolution, and a focusing and to prevent a lowering of a lifetime. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun for a cathode ray tube comprises a sleeve of a cylinder type, a heater for generating a heat according to external applied voltage inside the sleeve, a cathode including a base metal having deposited electron radiation materials and supported by the sleeve, and a plurality of grid electrodes orderly arranged from the cathode and linearly fixed by a pair of bead glasses. The center part of the base metal in the cathode has a plane surface parallel to an inner surface of the grid electrodes and both side surfaces with a slope or a curvature.
