PURPOSE: A timing recovery device is provided to operate a timing error detecting part without residual carrier-phase errors, thereby carrying out stable timing recovery. CONSTITUTION: A timing recovery device includes a timing recovering part(400) having first and second multipliers(401,402), an adder(403), a pre-filter(404), a timing error detecting part(405), a loop filter(406), and an NCO2(Numerically controlled Oscillator2;407). The first multiplier obtains a square of a signal of in-phase component output from a re-sampling part(110). The second multiplier obtains a square of a signal of quadrature component output from the re-sampling part. The squares are added to each other by the adder. The pre-filter passes edge parts of a spectrum output from the adder. The timing error detecting part outputs timing error data from the signal passing through the pre-filter. The NCO controls the sampling timing of the re-sampling part by converting the output frequency according to low band component of the timing error data.
