PURPOSE: A positioning device of a manual transmission is provided to regulate the tension of a poppet spring to generate optimal frictional force between a poppet ball and a shift rail to each shift step. CONSTITUTION: A positioning device of a manual transmission is composed of a shift rail(52) selectively rectilinear-moving in shifting and operating a synchronizer and having poppet grooves(52a,52b,52c) for corresponding to the neutral and a gear level formed on the outer peripheral surface; a poppet ball(54) positioned on the outer peripheral surface of the shift rail and frictionized with the shift rail; a poppet spring(56) for closely contacting the poppet ball to the outer peripheral surface of the shift rail; a push rod(58) connected with the poppet spring; a guide(60) for guiding the push rod to rectilinearly move to the elastic direction of the poppet spring; and a driving motor(62) spirally combined to the outer peripheral surface of the push rod. The driving motor rotates in one direction in shifting to move the push rod to the extension direction of the poppet spring and rotates in other direction after shifting to move the push rod to the compression direction of the poppet spring.
