PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a screen display which generates the next display screen by only processing of updating pictures of changing layers in a display screen represented by a plurality of layers having a relationship of overlapping with each other. SOLUTION: The screen display is provided with a layer screen buffer 7 wherein pixel data of the plurality of layers constituting the screen is stored for each layer, a layer state buffer 6 wherein a state indicating whether pixel data of each layer has a transmissive color or a non-transmissive color is stored, a display screen buffer 2 wherein pixel data of the highest layer having pixel data of a non-transmissive color out of pixel data of the plurality of layers stored in the buffer 7 is stored for each pixel, and a plotting circuit which designates a layer having pixel data changed and updates pixel data of the corresponding layer in the buffer 7, pixel layer state data of the corresponding layer in the layer state buffer 6, and/or corresponding pixel data in the buffer 2 with respect to pixels of which the pixel data in the designated layer is required to be updated.
