PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a useable recording region of a magnetic disk, and to obtain a proper follow-up property to the magnetic disk, without miniaturizing the dimension of a magnetic head slider itself. SOLUTION: A disk facing surface 4 consists of a groove part 7 which continues from an air inflow end 2 and which does not influence the floating characteristic and a floating surface 5 which has the floating characteristic. The floating surface 5 is composed of a step bearing surface 8a positioned on the side from the groove part 7 to an air outflow end 3, rail surfaces 6a and 6b, and a negative pressure groove 9.
