PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple structure inkjet printing device with a home position detection mechanism for a carriage which does not use an optical element. SOLUTION: A first and a second contact terminals 11 and 21 consisting of bowl shape electro-conductive bodies are formed at a chassis 10 of a body of the printing device and the carriage 1, respectively. The second contact terminal 21 is connected to a conductive spring 22 and is fixed by a side with a timing belt 3 of the carriage 1 in a non-contact status to the first contact terminal 11. When the second contact terminal 21 contacts the primary contact terminal 11, the spring 22 is contracted and a connection status is assured. The first contact terminal 11 is set at a position where the carriage 1 serves as a home position at a point where the first contact terminal 11 contacts the second contact terminal 21 set at the carriage 1. A contact signal is generated when the first and the second contact terminals 11 and 21 contact to each other. It is identified that the carriage 1 is at the home position by detecting this contact signal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
