PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the film pressure plate support device of a camera which can always hold the planarity of the film of the camera and whose thickness as a whole in the thickness direction can be made thin. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a protective cover 40 covering electric parts 30,31 held in the rear cover 100 of the camera, a plate-shaped pressure plate 1 which is supported by the cover 40 and which is formed in one plane shape, a pressing means 43 pressing the film in a direction along which the film is pressed, engaging parts 41 which are provided on the protective cover 40 and which are engaged with the end rim parts of the pressure plate 1, first parts to be engaged 2 which are projected from the edge rim parts of the plate 1 on the same plane and engaged with the engaging parts and second parts to be engaged 3 which are projected from the plate 1 on the same plane at vicinity of the first parts to be engaged 2 and which defire the position of the plate 1 by being abutted to the side faces of the engaging parts.
