PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device in which a reduced image changed into arbitrary size is produced from an imaging device of a high resolution in a high-speed image pickup rate. SOLUTION: The image pickup device has an imaging device 2-1 in which a CFA is located on the front, a sampling control part 2-2 for controlling read of the imaging device, an image size change control part 3 for selectively setting a reduction ratio of the image size of a video signal to be outputted from the imaging device, and a look-up table (LUT) 7 in which the image reduction ratios and read rules are correspondently stored, the read rule corresponding to the reduction ratio set by the image size change control part is read out of the LUT and supplied to the sampling control part, the read of the imaging device is controlled based upon the read rule, and the video signal of the prescribed reduction ratio is outputted.
