PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document transport auxiliary member which prevents, with an inexpensive structure, a backside read phenomenon caused during the read of a both-sided document and also prevents soil of a white reference surface. SOLUTION: The document feed auxiliary member has a cover sheet 20 which covers one side of a document 4a which is to be read; and a base sheet 21 which holds the document 4a between the cover sheet 20 and itself, at least one end of which is joined to that of the cover sheet 20, and which covers the other side of the document 4a which is not to be read. The base sheet 21 is made black in order to prevent the document backside read phenomenon. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
