PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire air pressure reduction detecting method capable of detecting tire pressure reduction accurately and preventing incorrect reporting. SOLUTION: This tire air pressure reduction detecting method is to detect the reduction of the inner pressure of a tire based on the wheel speed information obtained from vehicle wheels. this method includes a process to detect the wheel speed information of each wheel, a process to memorize the wheel speed information of each wheel, a process to determine the car body speed of a vehicle from the wheel speed information, a process to determine vehicle information is the drive force, wheel torque or a slip rate of the running vehicle, a process to calculate the determination value of pressure reduction from the wheel speed information of each tire, and a process to calculate the multiple correlation coefficient of the car body speed and the vehicle information in relation to the determined value and then detect the reduction of the air pressure of the tire by comparing the multiple correlation coefficient with predetermined threshold.
