The method involves maintaining a decay function, and then periodically applying the decay function to at least a portion of the digitally-stored media files. The apparatus includes computer-readable media, and program code stored on the computer-readable media. The program code comprises program code for maintaining a decay function, and program code for periodically applying the decay function to at least a portion of the digitally-stored media files.
