The invention relates to a method for operating a computed tomogram (CT) device by means of which volume data pertaining to a volume area of a test object can be recorded. According to the inventive method, a marking for identifying a reconstruction area to be reconstructed is faded into an X-ray shadow image containing the volume area, whereby a split image of the beginning and/or end of the reconstruction area is reconstructed from the volume data in order to verify the position of the reconstruction area.
