The device for power control of an internal combustion engine has an air flow path (11) in which is installed a throttle valve (12) which can pivot through a plane (29) orientated at right angles to the axis (111) of the flow path. The throttle valve when occupying the idle running position lies in this plane and at most is pivoted for emergency running only by a small pivot angle lying within a tolerance range. The emergency running device (23) has return spring (24) loading the actuating shaft (13) in the idle running direction, and an emergency running spring (25) loads the shaft in the full load direction.
