<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide view angle polarizing plate whose front contrast of a polarizing plate is high, which has optimum optical characteristics, and which has characteristics of wide angle of view field, in a polarizing plate which is formed by using an optical compensation phase difference film where an optical anisotropic layer, which is formed by making discotheque liquid crystal polymer inclinedly oriented, is held by a cellulose triacetate film, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using it; and a self-luminous display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In a wide view angle polarizing plate, an optical compensation phase difference film where an optical anisotropic layer, which has a discotic liquid crystal polymer inclinedly oriented so as to incline toward thickness direction, is held by a transparent film is laminated with a polarizer or a protection film via an adhesion layer. They are so laminated that the angle between the orientation angle direction of the optical compensation phase difference film and the drawing direction of the polarizing film becomes 0±10°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
