PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily immerse a side wall of a caisson water tank down to a prescribed position under the ground surface without having influence of adhesion of surrounding earth. SOLUTION: The side wall 1 of the caisson water tank is immersed down to the prescribed position under the ground surface by dead weight by excavating the ground 3a inside of the side wall 1. When immersion becomes difficult since the side wall 1 sticks to the ground by large adhesion of the surrounding earth in the middle of the immersion, water or oil is pressed in a plurality of through-holes 2 from the inside of the side wall 1 by a pump via a hose 4. Thus, the water or the oil injected into the respective through-holes 2 expands to the outer periphery of the side wall 1 by flowing out of the through-holes 2 on the outside of the side wall 1, and is interposed between an outer peripheral surface of the side wall 1 and the surrounding ground 3b of the side wall 1, and sticking force of the periphery of the side wall 1 and the ground 3a is surely cut off or reduced so that the side wall 1 is easily immersed.
