PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver for downloading updated software without depending on a downloading device installed in an outlet store, etc., even though the digital broadcast receiver is a portable device or an on-vehicle device. SOLUTION: A digital broadcast receiver 30 of a home use can acquire the updated software superimposed on a weak hierarchy of terrestrial digital broadcast waves. A portable digital broadcast receiver 31 can acquire download-related information superimposed on a strong hierarchy of digital broadcast waves. The receiver 30 acquires the download-related information from the receiver 31 and transmits the downloaded updated software to the receiver 31 by using infrared rays on the basis of the download-related information.
