PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zoom lens system for small compact camera having a zoom ratio of more than five times while adopting a four group constitution having positive, negative, positive, and negative lenses in the order from an object side. SOLUTION: The system satisfies a following conditional expression (1):-12<f<SB>T</SB>/f<SB>4G</SB><-10.5 where f<SB>T</SB>is the focal length of the entire system at a long focal length end and f<SB>4G</SB>is the focal length of a fourth lens group.
