PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly cap an ink jet printing head. SOLUTION: A cap 105 comprising leg parts 100a, 100b is forced by a spring 88 in the direction moving away from a cap thread 68. The leg part 100b is pressured against an upper surface 120 and the leg part 100a is pressured against an inclined surface 118 so that component force is generated in the leg part 100a by the function of the inclined surface 118 so as to move the cap 105 eccentrically to the stopping surface 116 direction. Consequently, it is positioned relatively with respect to an ink jet cartridge (pen) 50. Even when the cap 105 is pressed by the pen 50 so that the pen 50 is inclined, the cap 105 follows the inclination of the pen 50 surface according to the friction force generated between the cap 105 and the pen 50, and the function of the spring 88 to certainly execute a capping operation.
