PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support a reference axis of a work at three portions at an approximately constant angle by line contact, to always make a central axis of the work equal to a central axis of a grind stone without changing the setup even if a diameter of the reference axis has difference, and to obtain stable support in a work supporting device, when both end faces of a jaw of a jawed shaft is ground by an end face grinder. SOLUTION: By a method for forming an inclined face to a tip part where a lower shoe 2 and an upper shoe 3 for holding a reference axis of the work abut on each other, inserting the work in a regular triangular space formed therein, and giving rotation by pressurization with an adjusting wheel arranged opposite to the upper and lower shoes, the work is kept at constant three-split intervals in a perimeter direction.
