PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pH adjustment method that can adjust pH with a small adding amount when slaked lime powder is used as a pH control agent in a stabilizing treatment of a waste containing harmful metal. SOLUTION: The method is for the pH adjustment in the stabilizing treatment for fixing and stabilizing harmful metal under a predetermined range of pH by adding an iron-ion solution to the crushed waste power containing the harmful metal, wherein the slaked lime powder is added as the pH control agent before or after adding the iron-ion solution, the powder containing 90 wt.% or more of grains whose diameter is 45 to 600μm.
