摘要 The invention relates to a method for the acoustic adaptation of an active element (1) of an electroacoustic transducer for emitting and receiving ultrasound waves having a pre-determined wavelength, in relation to a load medium (BM), said active element being provided with a front side (1V) which faces the load medium and by which means axially oriented sound waves that can be produced by the active element are radiated into the load medium or injected into the active element, and with a lateral surface (1S) which at least partially defines said front side and by which means the marginal waves that can be produced by the active element are radiated or injected, said marginal waves propagating essentially orthogonally in relation to the axially oriented sound waves. The invention is characterised in that an acoustic adaptation is carried out between the lateral surface and a medium facing the lateral surface, such that at least part of the acoustic energy inherent in the marginal waves emerging from the lateral surface of the active element is converted into axially oriented sound waves and/or, conversely, at least part of the acoustic energy inherent in the axially oriented sound waves is converted into marginal waves oriented towards the lateral surface.
