The contraction assembly for fluid flow lines has two spaced head pieces (13,14) connected by a contraction sleeve (12) defining an inner space for a fluid pressure medium. There is a sealed fluid duct (21) extending through the inner space and to an actuator (23), such as a gripper, to operate it. The fluid medium can be compressed air and the duct is coaxial to the sleeve.
