<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data sort program by which sorting is available by reflecting the number of digits of a numeric character in sorting a character string data containing the numeric character, including an address, a lot number, and a method for sorting the data. <P>SOLUTION: The numeric character contained in the data is detected. A weight code with respect to the number of characters of the numeric character connected to the detected numeric character is provided to the top of the numeric character.
