<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform application processing adapted to a connected music device without complicated work. <P>SOLUTION: A machine type ID correspondence table prescribes machine type IDs, screen display (user interface UIs) corresponding to them, and function setting of MIDI message MSs or the like. When a machine type ID is recognized by reception of a response signal 47 to a request signal 46 transmitted to a MIDI device 30 and has been registered in the correspondence table, an application 40 corresponding to the machine type ID is set. That is, corresponding UI and MS are specified in accordance with the correspondence table, and MIDI processing of display, sound emission, message transmission, etc. is performed in accordance with the specified UI and MS.
