摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator controller capable of continuing same operation as usual operation even when power failure occurs without stopping the elevator in an emergency and making capacity of an electric power storage device excessive by considering transient electric power when switching to the operation on the occurrence of power failure. <P>SOLUTION: This elevator controller is provided with a converter 2 rectifying AC power, an inverter 4 converting DC power from the converter to AC power having variable voltage and variable frequency and driving a motor of a hoisting machine 5 to operate an elevator, the electric power storage device 10 storing DC power, a charging and discharging controller 12 controlling charging and discharging of the electric power storage device, a charging and discharging device 11 charging and discharging based on the control from the charging and discharging controller, and a power failure detection device 21 detecting power failure. The charging and discharging controller 12 switches charging and discharging current limit in accordance with a power failure detection signal from the power failure detection device 21.
