<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assist a person to be cared to move by enlarging the movable range of a slider for transferring the person without using a large scale support structure. <P>SOLUTION: An arm 12 is protruded from the upper end of a columnar body 10 in a transfer assisting device for care 1, and is turned within a horizontal surface using a connection part to the columnar body 10 as a turning center. The arm 12 includes the slider 50 to be moved along the longitudinal direction, and a suspension tool 51 to be connected to a body holding means 200 mounted on the body of the person is pivotally suspended from the slider 50. A pull-up force generating device 70 gives a pull-up force to the tool 51. The arm 12 is suspended from a substantially horizontally disposed rail 21 in a part other than the turning center, so that a load to be added to the arm 12 is born while permitting the turning of the arm 12.
