<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for recording an image on a reversible thermosensitive recording medium which may reduce energy required to raise a temperature at an image forming time and which has substantially no change in color tone in a cooling step of fixing a developing color. <P>SOLUTION: The image is formed in a desired color on the reversible thermosensitive recording medium containing a liquid crystal composition exhibiting a solid phase in a normal temperature range, exhibiting a cholesteric liquid crystal phase in a predetermined temperature range higher than the normal temperature range and further exhibiting an isotropic phase in a predetermined temperature range higher than the temperature range exhibiting the cholesteric liquid phase. A heating temperature of a desired site of a thermosensitive recording layer is controlled in a temperature range exhibiting the cholesteric liquid crystal layer in response to a selected reflecting color desired to be developed, and the heated site is quenched at a cooling speed of -0.2°C/ms or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
