<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single shunt type inverter apparatus capable of detecting a current over a wide speed range. <P>SOLUTION: Among a plurality of drive patterns determined according to on/off pair of a plurality of switching elements Q1-Q6, the duration time of pulse width modulation signal output Du+ to Dw- corresponding to such drive pattern as a current flows a resistor 20 is assumed as Te, while the conversion time by A/D conversion means 38d is assumed as Tad.
