PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the effects of inhibiting gases which inhibit a contact combustion type gas sensor from detecting gases to be detected. SOLUTION: A gas contact combustion type hydrogen sensor 15 is tightened and secured at a mounting seat 16 provided on the inner surface of the roof of a vehicle. A tubular part 22 is formed on the lower surface of a case 19 of the hydrogen sensor 15, a gas detecting chamber 24 provided with both a detecting element 29 and a temperature compensating element 30 is formed inside the tubular part 22, and an opening as a gas introducing part 25 is formed in an inside part of the tubular part 22. The temperature compensating element 30 carries a selective oxidation catalyst 31 of an inhibiting gas, such as CuO which selectively oxidizes alcohol, which inhibits the hydrogen sensor 15 from detecting hydrogen.
