PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating pretreatment device for saving a space, improving productivity, and drastically reducing the equipment expense, the chemicals cost, the management man-hour, and waste water treatment load even to a compound body of iron and aluminum. SOLUTION: This coating pretreatment device comprises a treatment tank 101 which is filled with a degreasing and conversion treatment solution containing mixture solvent of polar organic solution and water of the weight ratio of 2.8 : 7.2 to 3.8 : 6.2, and at least sodium ion and/or lithium ion, phosphoric acid ion, zinc ion, nickel ion, manganese ion, nitric acid and/or nitrous acid ion and in which a car body B is immersed, an aluminum conversion treatment means 300 provided on a second stage of the treatment tank 101 to spray a conversion solution for aluminum on the car body B, and a rinse tank 201 which is provided on a second stage of the aluminum conversion treatment means 300, and filled with a cleaning solution and in which the car body B is immersed, and further comprises a detector 501 to detect the position of presence of the car body B, and a control device 601 to control the spray of an after-spray device 400 according to the position of presence of the car body B detected by the detector.
