PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying mechanism and a conveying method of a recording material which can reduce the number of assembling processes and costs by reducing the number of advance rollers and pressing rollers accompanying them. SOLUTION: The conveying mechanism according to the present invention is provided with a pair of magazines 21 and 21 containing the recording material P, respectively, and a conveying roller 31 for receiving the recording material P ejected from each of the magazines 21 and conveying it on the downstream side, and the conveying roller 31 is arranged so that the winding direction of each of the recording material P is opposed to the conveying roller 31 so that only either of the recording materials P is selectively conveyed by changing the rotational direction of the conveying roller 31.
