The invention relates to a system comprising an obstacle or a stop piece which can be disposed inside, outside or both inside and outside the spiral (2) of the corkscrew. According to the invention, the obstacle or stop piece can slide along the length of the spiral and be blocked at a desired height so that the depth of penetration of the spiral (2) in the stopper can be adjusted. The above-mentioned obstacle preferably comprises a cylindrical sleeve (1) which slides along the entire length of the spiral (2) and which contains another stop piece (8) therein. The aforementioned stop piece (8) is fixed to a rod (5) which passes horizontally therethrough and which slides along the length of grooves which are disposed on two parallel faces of the sleeve (1). Moreover, said stop piece (8) can be blocked at a desired height, thereby preventing the spiral from cutting straight through the stopper and causing particles of cork to fall into the liquid.
