MEASURING AND DISPENSING APPARATUS

A measuring and dispensing apparatus for materials such as fibres and/or fillers or like materials comprising a cylindrical chamber (17) having its axis co-axial with a conveyor (11) which feeds the material into one end of the cylinder. A diaphragm (18) forms the other end of the cylinder and distorts outwardly under pressure of the material filling the cylinder. A micro-switch (19) is actuated by the diaphragm when the cylinder is filled to a pressure which forces the diaphragm into contact with the micro-switch. The cylinder is formed in two semi-cylindrical halves (20,21) and each half is pivotally mounted on a respective shaft (25,26) parallel to and near the top edge of each half. A concave plunger (22) is mounted in the chamber and is actuated by an avi-cylinder (24) causing it to move downwardly to open the chamber (17) and dispense the contents therein.
