摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively improve emission property by rapidly increasing injection pressure of fuel at the time of cranking performed in starting an engine. <P>SOLUTION: A high pressure pump 26 for pressurizing fuel fed by pressure to a fuel injection valve 15 is provided with a cam 64 for being driven by the engine, a plunger 63 for being lifted and driven by the cam 64 to pressurize the fuel in pump house 53, a suction valve 55 for opening and closing a fuel suction section 51 of the pump chamber 53, an energizing means 58 for energizing the suction valve 55 in the opening direction, and a solenoid 60 moving with an energizing force of the energizing means 58 to operate the suction valve 55 in the closing direction. A high-pressure pump controlling means 73 is provided for performing start control for conducting the solenoid 60 at a time while the plunger 63 travels from a bottom dead center to a top dead center to close the suction valve 55 in starting the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
