<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and its method which can reduce a consumption of a photoreceptor layer by suppressing an increase in the discharge quantity of a photoreceptor and can also lower the cost and save the space. <P>SOLUTION: When the number of recording media counted by a recording medium number calculating part 1-11 reaches a specified number, a CPU 1-1 measure the quantity of discharge from an electrostatic charging part to the photoreceptor by a discharging current measurement part 1-13. When the discharge quantity exceeds a specified range, the CPU 1-1 decrease the amplification factor of amplification by an amplification part 1-2 as to a pulse waveform outputted from the CPU 1-1 by an amplification factor switching part 1-12 so that the discharge quantity enters the specified range. Decreasing the amplification factor of the amplification part 1-2 decreases the amplification of an AC voltage outputted from a voltage boosting part 1-5 through a filter part 1-3 and a coupling capacitor 1-4, and consequently the discharge quantity between an electrostatic charging part and the photoreceptor can be decreased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
