摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure garbage degrading performance and to save energy as well as to attain inactivation of bacteria causative of food poisoning and extermination of harmful insects and to provide a sanitary garbage treatment apparatus. SOLUTION: The garbage treatment apparatus comprises a microbial degradation section 21 in which garbage is degraded by microorganisms, a discharge port 32 through which residue is discharged from the degradation section 21, a discharge path 33 which communicates with the degradation section 21 by way of the discharge port 32, a discharge tank 34 disposed on the outlet side of the discharge path 33, and an inactivating means 35 to inactivate discharge in the discharge tank 34 in a prescribed time. Since the microbial degradation section 21 is not exposed to a high temperature when inactivation of bacteria causative of food poisoning and extermination of harmful insects are carried out, the number and activity of microorganisms can be maintained and garbage degrading performance in the degradation section 21 can be sustained. Since the inactivating means 35 is allowed to act on a small amount of discharge 36 in place of a large amount of a microorganism carrier 24, energy saving and satisfactory inactivation are attained.
