ELECTROSTATIC CHARGING DEVICE, BODY TO BE ELECTROSTATICALLY CHARGED, AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the lifetime of components by making it possible to remove the electrostatic charge accelerating conductive particles deposited with electric discharge products in a nip portion before the electrostatic charge accelerating conductive particles deposited with the electric discharge products gives rise to filming.

SOLUTION: The electrostatic charging device is provided with a mode to periodically clean the electrostatic charge accelerating conductive particles carried and supported in the nip section between an electrostatic charging member 12c and an image carrier 11. When the cleaning mode is started, the member 12c is grounded and the bias of a developing device 13 is turned on to supply toners to the image carrier 11. The toners are transferred to a conveyance belt 2a in a transfer section and are recovered by a cleaning blade 2c.
