PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for wiping away a liquid crystal by which an excess liquid crystal sticking to a large number of liquid crystal cells is quickly wiped away all at once. SOLUTION: A large number of thrusting plates 430 arranged nearly parallel to each other at prescribed intervals, a liquid crystal cell holding means 426 to hold a large number of liquid crystal cells 10 in such a way that the gaps in the thrusting plates 430 confront the liquid crystal cells by way of a wiping sheet 490, and a thrusting means to sequentially thrust the thrusting plates 430, together with the wiping sheet 490, into the gaps in the cells 10 to a prescribed depth are disposed. A thrusting cam 440 which moves the thrusting plates 430 to the cell 10 side, a thrusting cam shaft 452 which guides the cam 440 to the movement direction and a thrusting cam driving means 460 to move the cam 440 along the cam shaft 452 are disposed as the thrusting means.
