PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice coil motor which allows the positional accuracy of a magnetic head to be improved and noise to be reduced, and a magnetic disk unit using the motor. SOLUTION: The voice coil motor 10 includes yokes 14 and 16 which are placed opposite to each other so that a gap 12 is provided and are magnetically coupled with each other. Main magnets 22 and 24 are placed on the opposite face of the yoke 14, and main magnets 26 and 28 are placed on the opposite face of the yoke 16. A movable coil 32 is placed in the gap 12, and magnets 38, 40, 42, and 44 for magnetic flux correction are placed outside the main magnets 22, 24, 26, and 28. The direction of magnetization of the magnets 38, 40, 42, and 44 for magnetic flux correction is at an angle of 90±20°to the direction of magnetization of the corresponding main magnets 22, 24, 26, and 28. At the same time, the inner side faces of the magnets 38, 40, 42, and 44 for magnetic flux correction are positioned outside the inner side face of the peripheral portion 32a of the movable coil 32.
