PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information management device and an information management method for distributing information matching a revision number when a user designates the revision number of the information with a URL in access to the optional information. SOLUTION: This information management device 1 is provided with a transmission/receipt part 6, a revision number acquisition part 7, a file retrieval part 8, and a document formation part 9. The transmission/receipt part 6 receives a URL from a client 5 according to a predetermined protocol and returns a document file designated by the URL to the client. The revision number acquisition part 7 acquires a folder name, a file name, and a revision number from the received URL and transfers them to a file retrieval part 8. The file retrieval part 8 searches a contents database 2 by using the folder name, the file name, and the revision number for extracting a file name of an original document file.
