PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simultaneously producing both of an unsaturated fatty acid and saturated fatty acid each of low impurity content through efficiently recovering and reusing a polyglycerol fatty acid ester from a saturated fatty acid portion. SOLUTION: The method involves a process of recovering the polyglycerol fatty acid ester comprising adding a solvent 10-15 in solubility parameter to a mixture of the fatty acid and the polyglycerol fatty acid ester and isolating the polyglycerol fatty acid ester deposited. Thus, the polyglycerol fatty acid ester used for the spontaneous fractionation of fatty acids can easily be recovered and reused, also enabling the fatty acid to be isolated and refined.
