PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for manufacturing Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>low-melting glass wherein cost is reduced and contamination by platinum is inhibited due to reduced occurrence of erosion in a heat-resistant vessel in which a raw material batch is converted into a molten glass. SOLUTION: When manufacturing the low-melting glass containing Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>as a constituent, the raw material batch is converted into the molten glass in the heat-resistant vessel made of Au or an Au alloy.
