PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for creating an environment pattern classification chart which make it easy to create an ecotope chart, a program therefor, and a recording medium where the program is recorded.

SOLUTION: An ecotope chart B having combination patches Cht classified by combinations of a plurality of environment units is created by putting a map having areas classified by vegetation units and a map having areas classified by geographical factors one over the other. Further, a threshold is inputted to integrate and reduce generated combination patches classified by combinations of environmental units which are never ecologically present and generated combination patches which are meaningless since the area is very small. Further, a user is made to preview the result of the integration and reduction based upon the inputted threshold before the integration and reduction are carried out.
